Q: How Did You First Start Using Cloth Diapers & End Up Making Them Your Business?

A: At the age of 6 months old my 3rd child started showing signs of horrible diaper rashes. Through the process of elimination, we discovered her sensitivity to disposable diapers. My sister in law has been a huge cloth diapering advocate, so she kindly introduced me to prefolds, teaching me all the ins and outs. I found that prefolds did not meet the needs of my daughter so I decided to try buying fitted dipes. I found that I loved fitteds but could not afford the costly diapers available in today's market, so I decided to try to make my own.

As a little girl I remember my mom had teaching me to sew. At age 30, as I sat at my moms sewing machine, I tried to recollect the methods I had been taught so many years earlier. I found that sewing is much like riding a bike. You never forget.

Through lots of trial, error, and using my sweet baby girl as a guinea pig, I found a pattern that worked fabulously. My sister in law was quite impressed with the pattern I had established. She encouraged me to try selling them....this set my "business wheels" in motion.

Q: Was starting your business difficult?

A: Starting a business was not as hard as I expected. I started by advertising myself in a WAHM section of a forum I belonged to. It started with just a few customers. These customers told others who have told others. Everything has just grown from there. I believe God has truly blessed me with this business.

Q: What does your home office/work space look like?

A: I get an early start in the morning (around 4:30 a.m.) before the kids are up. I take a break at 7:00 to make them breakfast and get the older ones off to school. I then head back to work. My husband helped me to turn our 2 car detached garage into my sewing room. One part of the room is a den type area for my little ones. They have plenty of toys, movies, and crafts they can play with while I work. This allows me to be with them AND work at the same time.

Q: What Is The Most Rewarding Thing About Running Your Home Business?

A: Knowing I am helping to pay our household bills without sacrificing time with my children.

Q: What new an exciting things can we expect in the future?

A: I am working on ways to keep my costs low so that I can make top quality cloth diapers that the average mom or dad can afford.
