Featured Cloth Diaper WAHM: Melissa of Posh Punkins

Q: What Led You to Start Using Cloth Diapers?

A: Actually I had a friend that I met on a pregnancy board start using cloth diapers. I was a little surprised by her choice and thought cloth diapers were big white rectangles and rubber pants like my mom and grandma had used. She gave me a few web links and with that I went exploring. I was so surprised to see adorable fitted diapers. After lots of research, I decided to make some for my sons to see how I liked them. I was absolutely amazed at how wonderful they were - nothing like I expected at all!

Q: How did you go about making cloth diapers your business?

A: I made about 30 diapers for my two sons and got so much excellent feedback and encouragement from my family and friends that I decided to take the plunge.

Q: Was starting your business difficult?

A: I can't say it was difficult for me, just overwhelming. I suppose the web design part was difficult for me since I have no training in that area, but thankfully there were several excellent web designers that have helped me along the way.

Q: How do you manage to run a business with small children?

A: Well.....some days are definitely crazy with all four kiddos. Actually I believe that we are only given as much as we can handle and it always just seems to work out fine for me. I must say that I have a very supportive hubby who helps when things get a little overwhelming for me.

Q: What does your home office look like?

A: I don't have much of an office, just a large desk in the corner of a room where I use the computer and do paperwork and then I have a sewing studio where I do all my sewing (both diapers and my custom clothing). Both are fairly neat - I'm a neat person and clutter drives me nuts!

Q: What Is The Most Rewarding Thing About Running Your Home Business?

A: Hands down, receiving emails from my customers with their wonderful feedback. It **always** makes my day to get an email from a mom (have yet to get one from a dad) that is happy as can be about their order ~ it's really what keeps me going.
