Q: What Led You to Start Using Cloth Diapers?

A: I got interested in cloth diapers when I was pregnant with my first child (she is now 21 months). I read about them on parenting message boards and really grew interested. I took a chance and ordered a ton of cloth newborn diapers. I ordered prefolds, and pocket diapers, all in ones, and covers. I wanted to really get a sense of what cloth diapering was about. Once my daughter was here and I was able to test everything out, I loved it! I couldn't rave enough about the benefits of cloth. I am now mom to 2 kids, my youngest just 2 weeks old, and already in cloth!

Q: How did you go about making cloth diapers your business?

A: As a stay-at-home mom, I was always on the lookout for a good way to work at something I enjoy, but still be home with my children. As a member of various cloth diapering message boards, the opportunity came to me when I saw Purple Caterpillar Creations was for sale. I think it has turned out to be the perfect webstore for me and I'm really excited to see the store grow. The store offers a great variety of cloth diapers and other natural parenting essentials. I am just glad that I can offer these items to other families and spread the word on what a great choice cloth diapering can be.

Q: Was starting your business difficult?

A: I purchased the store as an existing business, so I was lucky in that I didn't need to start from scratch. The foundation was set, and the task I have now is to build upon the store. Learning the basics of an internet webstore took some work, but it's like second nature to me now.

Q: How do you manage to run a business with small children?

A: It's not always easy, especially when I try to use the computer around my toddler. She'd much prefer we go to the Noggin site. I am a night person, so a lot of work and research gets done in the evenings after my kids are asleep. And I manage to get online during naps and when dad is playing with them. I take pride in Purple Caterpillar Creations, so I will always make time to work on the webstore, research new products and maintain exceptional customer service.

Q: What does your home office look like?

A: My office consists of my computer, printer, storage bins and shelving, and my merchandise stock. It is very well organized. I I also have a laptop computer that makes my office portable.

Q: What Is The Most Rewarding Thing About Running Your Home Business?

A: I like being able to stay-at-home with my children, but still work at something I enjoy. I am glad that I don't have to worry about meetings and deadlines, but can work around my schedule. I love that I am selling products that I use for my own family. When you sell products that you believe in, it makes all the difference. Cloth diapers and natural parenting items have become a way of life for my family. I want to offer the best selection of parenting and diapering items to other moms out there.

Q: What new an exciting things can we expect in the future?

A: I am constantly searching and seeking for new and useful products to compliment my store. I have already added a number of new items, such as handmade pillowcase dresses, fur-lined leather baby slippers from Tibet, ERGO carriers, and that is just the beginning. I have my eye of many new items that I hope to add to the store shortly. I am going to be adding super soft and luxurious BerryPlush diapers from Jamtots and I have new Starbunz animal diapers in-stock currently.
