Q: What Led You to Start Using Cloth Diapers?

A: I decided to use cloth diapers on our 3rd child. I would of never consider this before but my 3rd child became very ill from disposable diapers. My pediatrician suggested cloth diapers for a short period of time to see if her skin would get any better. I was unsure about this due to the expense and extra washings. I bought a few and spent so much and I
became very addicted. We have not used disposables since.

Q: How did you go about making cloth diapers your business?

A: After spending hundreds of dollars on cloth diapers I decided to see if I could make them. I was spending so much because I just had to have every type out there to see what I liked best. I had NEVER sewn a day before this in my life. I bought just a few small pieces of fabric and I made the perfect diaper with matching cloth wipes. My dear husband ran out and bought me a brand new sewing machine and serger the next day. He was behind me every step of the way. I now have 2 online cloth diapering websites and run a full ebay store.

Q: Was starting your business difficult?

A: Not really. I only sold locally at first then I discovered ebay. I began listing auctions on ebay and within 3 months it took off from there. I was selling cloth diapers, cloth wipes and it seemed every day I was adding a new product. I went from listing 3 or 4 auctions a week to 10 or more a week. I average about 75 sells a month now.

Q: How do you manage to run a business with small children?

A: Well, that is the tricky part. I have 4 children and we are expecting baby #5 in May. I also homeschool my 3 oldest. I try to stay on a schedule but sometimes that just does not work. I homeschool in the morning and sew the rest of the day and do housework in between. It is hard and a very demanding life style but I make it work.

Q: What does your home office look like?

A: You really don't want to know. I stay organized in my own way. I know where everything is. I have certain fabrics that stay in certain areas and a sewing desk to hold my orders, serger and sewing machine. I just added to that a snap press. I need a bigger space now.

Q: What Is The Most Rewarding Thing About Running Your Home Business?

A: Staying home with our children for sure. I have a very busy life and I would not trade it for anything. My children are great children in every way and being able to stay at home to watch them learn and grow is the most rewarding thing I could of ever asked for.
